Kauri Self Catering Holiday Cottage Whitby.
Kauri Cottage in Whitby belongs to a friend of ours. We have stayed there on a number of occasions, and so we can vouch that it is a lovely, homey and comfortable place to stay. Built and fitted out to a high standard in a new development, it is bright, modern and cheerful. Whitby town centre is only a ten minute drive away, and so Kauri Cottage makes an ideal base for a holiday. Set by the banks of the River Esk, you can watch the rise and fall of the tide. The other, quite startlingly impressive feature, is the viaduct close by. It's an amazing piece of architecture and always knocks the socks off anyone seeing it for the first time. | ![]() Kauri Holiday Cottage Whitby |
Whitby itself is a super place for a holiday break, with lots going on. Set on the coast in the North Yorkshire National Park, the town is always buzzing. There is a great variety of places to eat, drink and just generally relax. The Abbey is well worth a visit. It towers over Whitby and it's no wonder that Bram Stoker chose to have Dracula there in his famous story. It is full of brooding atmosphere. There are often events and festivals going on - the most famous is probably Goth week. We were there last year and it makes for some of the best free street theatre I've ever seen - wonderfully entertaining - lots of folks in costume and make-up doing the vampyre thing.... | ![]() Spacious and comfortable living room - includes sofa bed |
My favourite however is the harbour and beach. Whitby is famous for jet and fossils. Captain Cook set out from Whitby and, when it comes down to it, the harbour doesn't look that much different now to how it would have done then. Go there and you'll see what I mean Facilities
